Treatment Process
A dental check-up typically involves a thorough examination of your oral health by a dentist or dental hygienist. The process can vary somewhat depending on your specific needs and the dentist’s approach, but here’s a general overview of what to expect during a routine dental check-up
You may be asked to provide or update your medical history, including any changes in your overall health or medications you are taking. This information helps the dentist understand your general health and any potential oral health concerns related to medical conditions or medications.
You’ll have the opportunity to discuss any dental concerns or issues you’ve been experiencing, such as pain, sensitivity, or changes in your oral health. Sharing this information with your dentist helps them focus on specific areas during the examination.
The dentist will perform a visual examination of your mouth, teeth, and gums using a dental mirror and other specialized tools. They will look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other dental problems. This examination assesses the overall condition of your oral tissues.
A dental hygienist may perform a professional teeth cleaning (prophylaxis) during your check-up. This involves removing plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth using specialised instruments. They will also polish your teeth to remove surface stains and make your teeth feel smooth.
Your dentist or hygienist will assess the health of your gums by measuring the depth of the pockets between your teeth and gums. This helps identify signs of gum disease
Our dentist or hygienist may provide oral hygiene instructions and recommendations tailored to your specific needs. This may include guidance on proper brushing and flossing techniques, dietary advice, and information on maintaining good oral health.
After the examination, your dentist will discuss their findings with you. They will explain any dental issues they have identified and provide recommendations for treatment, preventive care, or further evaluations if necessary. If any dental problems are detected, your dentist will work with you to develop a treatment plan. This plan may include procedures like fillings, root canals, or extractions if needed.
Depending on your oral health, your dentist may schedule follow-up appointments for treatments or additional assessments.

I've been going to Dr.Michael Donnolly since last October. Very Friendly and reassuring. I'm extremely nervous in the dentist and he made me feel very calm. All staff very nice and professional!

I was very impressed with the quality of work done on a front tooth filling that had fallen out along with half of one of my front teeth. Dr.O'Hagan refilled it and did cosmetic work on it so quickly and painlessly that I couldn't believe she was finished. Top notch work and fairly priced!
